The Year of the Jailbreak!

By Malcolm Ringwalt

Tom Brown used to call the experience of the physical, whether body, emotion, or mind, the “coffin of the flesh”! The idea of it is that once you get in it, you don’t get out. And that isn’t only because you typically only get in the coffin when you are dead, but also because the latch mechanism is only on the outside, not to mention the fact that you are in it only a short-while before you have 6’ of dirt piled on top! No, you’re not getting out!

The experience of physical-only orientation is only informed by the physical senses, which means that all our ideas, all our emotions, and even all our experience of our body is limited by the boundaries of the physical itself. Our physical senses are only tuned to the physical dimension and therefore the information we get from those senses is only of the physical. Considering the vast realms beyond the physical and the countless dimensions of life, you can understand the nature of our coffin and the effect of living in it! It truly is a prison that, without skill, holds us isolated from the worlds beyond the physical.

What are the skills we need to escape this prison? The skills of the “Jailbreak”! Sadly, many on the spiritual path, who are familiar with various practices that help them journey beyond the physical boundaries, believe they are already free and only need more practice to make that a permanent, living reality of their experience. And yet, the dominant experience of their lives remains of the physical, they continue to define themselves as physical beings and identify with their physical thoughts and pleasures. Too many even approach their spiritual understandings and experiences as though they, too, are physical experiences—which too often they are.

No, we don’t have a clear grasp of what the prison actually is so we can’t find skillful ways to break-out! This year, all four ceremonies will focus on the ‘Jailbreak’. We will focus on what the prison is and how it functions to hold humanity imprisoned, we will learn the nature of the prison, how we cooperate with our own “jailers”, and the various skills needed to break out! The point is that by the end of the year you will not only know how to break out, but will have integrated the knowledge and experience of freedom as an all-time, lived reality.

You know what? In the email that describes the first of the four ceremonies, I will tell you the poorly held secret of escaping the prison. It is simple. And if you can grasp it, you will not have to do any of the ceremonies! Of course, you might want to do them just because they are fun, and then you will be able go simply dance, joyfully, through both the ceremonies and life itself. So, pay attention for the email describing the first ceremony, that usually comes out on the Tuesday (Jan 20th) before Saturday’s (Jan 24th) ceremony. Oh, you have to sign up for the ceremony to get the email! I’ll see you there.
